Seriously? You're pouring sauces tableside, you present a smoked salmon dish in a box with the lid lifted with great ceremony and you can't attend to the ABC's like wiping a wooden table? This is a disservice to the kitchen's talents. Table was never cleaned/crumbed after entrees were taken away. Second drinks/wine and after dinner drinks were wanted however no one asked or could be flagged down to put an order in. Plate taken away before diner was finished eating.
The following 3 missteps should not occur at a establishment aiming for 5 stars. There will be lots of runners and servers and backups and flourishes, but basic oversight is missing. The problem at The Clocktower is the service at the table. The food here is simply wonderful: from the freshly baked rye sourdough bread to the tarte tatin big enough to feed six.
